The Magic Fingers of the Guitarist

images of the hands of the masters, from many and varied concerts
I've included bass players as well as lead and rhythm guitarists.

See how many you can recognize ;)

One of my favorites...and the picture that started this whole fascination with guitarists' hands.

Three in one! Woo hoo... they were jammin'!

Some guitarists are just moving too quickly to be captured. I tried many times this evening to capture this guitarist in photograph, but every picture is blurred by his motion. Definitely a blazing guitar... but also a lousy picture. :(

My second favorite "Magic Fingers" photograph.
I love it when a picture turns out as I intended it, and this one did. :)

Guitarists whose "Magic Fingers" are reflected on this page include but are not limited to:

Jonathan Cain, Journey
Vivian Campbell, Def Leppard Tony Cerciello, Kenny James Band
Phil Collen, Def Leppard
Kai "Red Tele" Corns, Kenny James Band
David Crosby, Crosby Stills and Nash
Billy Ray Cyrus
Ron Foos, Paul Revere and the Raiders, bass
John Gerlock, Wallace Cotton and the Rotten Unforgotten
George Grove, The Kingston Trio
Kirk Hammett, Metallica
Bob Haworth, The Kingston Trio
Steve "'Arry" Harris, Iron Maiden, bass
Doug Heath, Paul Revere and the Raiders
Kenny Inman, Kenny James Band, bass
Michael Johnson
Davey Justice, Liverpool Legends, bass
Drake Levin, Curtis Lawson Band, (formerly of Paul Revere and the Raiders)
Brook Mead, Martini Shot Band, bass
Graham Nash, Crosby Stills and Nash
Jeff Pevar, Crosby Stills and Nash
Neal Schon, Journey
James Lee Stanley
Stephen Stills, Crosby Stills and Nash
Ross Valory, Journey, bass
Bill Zorn, The Kingston Trio

OK... admittedly, not all of these guitarists are what would be considered "masters"... though there are definitely a few guitar gods in there (and not only in *my* opinion, I think). But all of these guitarists are either musicians that I have seen and enjoyed (hence the pictures) or that are indeed masters in my opinion, so I've located pictures to try to reflect their mastery.

And some guitar masters I've had the privilege of seeing, but was unable to get photographs of (generally due to restrictive camera rules at particular venues.) Hopefully some day I will be able to add their photographs as taken by me to this gallery. These include but are not limited to Neil Young and Prince.

And some musicians I'm still hoping or planning to see and hoping to photograph to add here. (Macca comes rather vividly to mind, as well as his touring guitarists. And Janick Gers, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden. And better pictures of Vivian Campbell and Phil Collen of Def Leppard. And pictures of Michael Weikath and Sascha Gerstner of Helloween. And on and on...)

I'll be continuing to add pictures of guitarists from time to time as I get to concerts and I'll always welcome picture suggestions and submissions for this page.

You say you've been guessing which guitarist's hands are which... and now you want to know if you're correct? OK... go here to see a page including the names of each guitarist.

My apologies to those on slow connections, for the large amount of pictures on this page, which leads to very slow loading. I hope that you consider it worth the wait!
