Images from "Cruisin' the Coast"
Paul Revere and the Raiders
Friday, October 10, 2003
On this Friday evening, the Raiders were appearing at the Grand Casino showroom
in Gulfport, Mississippi as part of Gulfport's celebration of
"Cruisin' the Coast", a classic car festival. The lineup
of entertainers for the week was Gary Puckett on Wednesday,
October 8; Herman's Hermits featuring Peter Noone on Thursday,
October 9; Paul Revere and the Raiders on Friday, October 10; and
the Grass Roots featuring Rob Grill on Saturday, October 11. I
was very glad to get to see Paul Revere and the Raiders here, the
venue was nice and the show was excellent!

Omar Martinez, drums and lead vocals
Doug Heath, lead guitar
Ron Foos, bass guitar
Danny Krause, keyboards and vocals
Carl Driggs, lead vocals and percussion
I stood in the line at the door until they opened the showroom, about 7:40 pm for a 9
pm show. It was great to meet other RaiderFans who were there and talk to them. It was a good group with good camaraderie. Because
I was near the head of the line, and because I RAN... faster than I've run in a long time lol... I got in the first public row of seats, on Ron and
Omar's side of the stage. The public seating started at row six (rows one to five were reserved for the Grand Casino's VIPs...
and this was two more rows of VIP seating than there had been for Herman's Hermits.) I got to take a lot of pictures and some of
them even turned out good! I'm sharing them with you here. The setlist will be incorporated into the webpages.
The show opened with Just Like Me, as has been the norm recently.
Here's Ron playing:
and here's Carl and Omar, playing while Paul, Doug and Ron ran offstage left, down
the stairs and out into the audience...
When Paul, Ron and Doug got back on stage, the band then went into the Stepping
medley... Steppin' Out and Stepping Stone:
Paul greeted the audience with his usual banter
(and the crowd enjoyed Paul's antics, as usual!)
The band broke into Him or Me, with Carl singing...
and Paul egging him on.
(Or maybe this is during Good Thing... ;))
Paul likes to expose his audience to Paul Revere and the
Raider's first hit, the instrumental Like Long Hair... and has to
"borrow" Danny's piano to do so. He kicks Danny out,
and takes over...
After all that wild Jerry-Lee-Lewis-like playing, the band
tones it down with a song for the "old folks" in the
Then the band performs one of their hits... Hungry.
