Iron Maiden
Coors Amphitheatre
Denver, Colorado

Tuesday, August 9, 2005

I was able to go to the Iron Maiden concert at Coors Amphitheatre in Denver on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. It was absolutely fabulous, and I'm so glad I was able to go! Thanks to all of my friends who got me interested in Iron Maiden, and thanks to the new friends from the Iron Maiden message board whom I was able to meet at this concert.

Iron Maiden:
Bruce Dickinson, lead vocals
Janick Gers, guitar
Steve "Harry" Harris, bass guitar
Nicko McBrain, drums
Dave Murray, guitar
Adrian Smith, guitar
.

Pictures are shown here, associated with the song they were singing if I was able to match it up from my setlist.
(I was not familiar with all of the song titles of Maiden's songs, and I'm bad with song titles in any event. Apologies for any errors and corrections are gratefully accepted.)

Sometimes the colored lighting was a little intense. I've done my best to neutralize that with photo editing software, but sometimes it was just too colored to overcome.

I had a fabulous time at the Iron Maiden concert on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at Coors Amphitheatre. I was also very glad to see Maiden at a concert that was not Ozzfest. This was one of the few non-Ozzfest dates on Maiden's schedule for summer 2005 and I feel very privileged to have seen it. There were several heavy metal opening acts, unfortunately I missed most of them since that was a workday. I did catch part of Rob Zombie's set, which was quite interesting. I was also very fortunate to be able to bring my camera into the venue and take pictures. I had been wanting to take pictures of Iron Maiden in concert for months, and was not sure if the venue and/or the band would allow pictures.

The band was performing a kind of a retrospective of their earlier days and most of the songs came from the first three Iron Maiden albums. It was very nice to hear the earlier songs, some of which are staples in their setlist, and some of which don't often get played. Since I missed out on the first time around for these songs, I was glad to have the opportunity to hear them played. They certainly sounded fabulous to me. Iron Maiden played from 8:52 pm to 10:22 pm, a very good 90 minute set.

Many thanks to the friends who got me interested in Iron Maiden in the first place, and lots of thanks also to the wonderful people from the Iron Maiden message board. The people from that board were able to meet up the day before the show, and also after the show. It was a fun time hanging out and discussing the band and the music, and how great the concert had been at the post-show party! I'm looking forward to seeing you all again at the next Maiden show in Colorado. This was a much better "fan" encounter than some I have experienced related to other bands. The Iron Maiden fans are a credit to the band!

An approximate setlist from that evening:
("Approximate" because I am not good at remembering song titles,
plus I'm a fairly new fan of Maiden and I wasn't yet familiar with
their titles.) Not in any particular order.

Murders In The Rue Morgue
The Ides Of March
Another Life
The Trooper
Remember Tomorrow
Prowler
Run To The Hills
Revelations
Wrathchild
Die With Your Boots On
Where Eagles Dare
Phantom Of The Opera
The Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

Running Free
Sanctuary
