shows 7 PM PDT and 9 PM PDT

On this Saturday evening, Paul Revere and the Raiders were appearing at the California Mid State Fair in Paso Robles, California. The Raiders were appearing on the Fort Frontier stage that was part of fair admission. This fair looked like a lot of fun. Lots of fun things to do, and excellent entertainment.

I was not able to attend this show. However, a friend of mine attended and took pictures. Thanks, Mark, for the pictures, the review, and for allowing me to share! All pictures on this page were taken by Mark and are copyright 2004 by superslo.com.

Here's a group shot of the Raiders:

Ron, Darrin, Omar, Paul, Danny and Doug

I don't have a complete setlist, nor times on when these pictures were taken, so I can't match up songs and pictures. I'll try to present the pictures in the order they were taken, though.

It was a beautiful day with temps in the low eighties, and a light breeze... just perfect for a fair.

My friend said the shows were fabulous and there were large audiences there. He said there was a larger crowd for the first show, which he assured me was pretty unusual as usually the later show draws a larger audience. The first show lasted about an hour and ten minutes, and then all the Raiders came out for the autograph line. My friend was not able to give me much information about a setlist, although I know Indian Reservation was performed as the last song in the first show. Kicks, the Righteous Brothers medley and We Gotta Get Out Of This Place were also performed.

Pictures from the beginning of the first show:

I'm not sure what Paul is speaking of at this point.. but there were some adjustments being made while he spoke.

It looks like Paul played Like Long Hair.

It's been a while since I've seen multiple shows, with an abbreviated first show, so I have no idea what they are singing here.
I'm willing to accept suggestions and will certainly edit here to add them ;)

This shot also shows that Ron is using a different guitar from his usual one.

Here's one that Darrin, Omar and Danny all sing on
The photographer believes that they are singing You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

The last picture from the first show is the group shot reproduced first on this page.

My friend was not able to stay for the whole second show, but he did get a few pictures. The difference from the sunlight of the first show to the stage lights of the second show is pretty dramatic. Great shots, anyway... :)

A good look at the Edsel front for Paul's keyboard that was at the California Mid State Fair. I have not seen the Edsel before, only the Mustang and the Harley. Dig those red fuzzy dice!

During the second show, ZZ Top was playing on the Grandstand Stage at the California Mid State Fair. Paul had some comments on that. "You know when you're talking on the phone and someone else is talking to you?...Doesn't that piss you off?" Of course, I know most people looking at this page would much rather see PRR than ZZ Top anyway...

My friend was impressed by what a good show the Raiders put on, and also by what they are doing for the veterans. I'm pretty sure he's glad that I drew his attention to the fact that PRR would be performing near him. He was talking about going to see them the next time they are in the area... so I think I have him converted to PRR fandom. ;)
